    Description

    Offered is this lot of five 1940s items from the Elks. Included are:
    1) The four-page program from the 27th annual convention of the Maryland/Delaware and DC Elks Association, held in Washington, DC August 3-August 6, 1947. In addition to the order of events for the four-day convention the program also lists the officers for both the DC and Maryland/Delaware groups. The 9" x 6" program is in good condition, with no major tears. There is a small edge tear and a few small holes and many crease lines from folding.
    2) & 3) Two three-part tickets from the same convention, #107 & #108. Each set has an unused ticket for a boat ride on the steamer Mt. Vernon, DC sightseeing and the Grand Ball and prize awards. Each 4" x 3" ticket is in good condition, with no tears and only a few small pinholes.
    4) A 1949 membership card for Charles A W Miller of Portland, Maine, Lodge No. 188. The 3 3/4" x 2 3/8" card is in very good condition, with no holes or tears.
    5) An Elks War Commission "courtesy card", allowing the bearer, the same Mr. Miller, to be a guest at the same Portland lodge, where his father was a member. Although undated, this obviously was issued some time during World War II. The card has a dark blue or black sparkly star glued to it; not sure what, if anything this means or if it was added at the time or later. The approx. 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" card is in good condition, with no holes or tears, but does have a lot of wear around the edges.
