Description

These are a beautiful set of 2 mid-century ceramic fish with a heart bubble made by the DeForest Pottery of California. At the beginning of their lives, they were probably wall plaques or hanging art, but their hangers have been removed long ago.  They are adorable jazzy sweethearts, and beautifully painted with the chic colors of the 50s & 60s. These are a truly rare set because of their style and color alone.  Painted the most popular 1950's colors of black, grey, gold and pink!  Both pieces show some minor crazing wear and some of the gold paint has worn.  The man fish has a minor gold tail chip that's been glued back.  Amazing condition for almost 65 years of age!  Dimensions are approx: Lady fish 5 x 3"; Man Fish 5 x 3"; & Heart Bubble 2".  Please review photos carefully & ask any questions before you purchase. Thank you!
DeForest Pottery of Duarte, California was a business run by Jack and Margaret Deforest from 1950-1970. During that time they produced some of the most unique and whimsical kitchenware ever made. Some pieces, such as the veggie and food shaped condiments, were mass produced and are still rather easy to come by; others, like their wall pockets and cylindar shaped jars, are much rarer.
