  • Condition: No chips, cracks repairs or restorations. There are 3 tiny white dots on the right side of the muzzle (see photo) which appear to be dots of paint but could be paint losses as well. Since Lillis often painted actual studies of real dogs, this could be a characteristic of an individual dog that she painted for the owner. The unusual white marking down the back of the neck might support this theory. Please enlarge and examine all photos carefully as they are considered part of the description.

    Description

Lillis Peck is well known among Boxer dog fanciers as she is not only a fantastic canine artist but is also a breeder, exhibitor and fancier of this breed. Her mother is also a Boxer breeder, exhibitor and judge, so a lot of knowledge about the Boxer goes into all of Lillis' work. This is her Boxer headstudy bust, done in 1987 and number 30 in an edition of 200. Signed by the artist. A superbly modeled piece, and decorated beautifully. It measures 4 1/4" tall by 4" long. As a Boxer collector myself, I always felt it was important and special to collect the work of another Boxer fancier, especially one as talented as Lillis. Lillis's work is rarely available for sale, and her work is certainly a worthy addition to a fine collection.
